Managers of Cabela's say the store's public grand opening was a smash hit.
They say it took 40 minutes to get the crowd of more than a thousand people inside the building.
Then it was elbow-to-elbow shopping with sales far exceeded their expectations, managers say.
And those who didn't want to brave the opening day started to stream in Friday morning.
"A lot of people said they were coming back today as well. They just couldn't see anything because of the crowds, and here we are on a Friday morning and already the store is very full. More people are coming every minute," said John Castillo, Cabela's spokeperson.
They say for the grand opening it was an all-hands on deck day with more than 240 employees working around the clock.
Although they're ramping down the amount of employees, they expect the big hype to last for at least the next few months.
